Clearinghouse CDFI – Building A Website That Speaks To Borrowers And Investors Separately

Clearinghouse CDFI provides commercial, real-estate-backed loans and needed its site to reach two very different audiences: borrowers evaluating whether they qualify, and investors evaluating the fund itself.

We’ve refined this process over hundreds of projects. It’s how we keep things moving without cutting corners.

Web Strategy

Before anything gets built, we sit down and learn your business. Goals, audience, competition, what your current site does well and where it falls short. From there, we put together a plan that gives your brand room to grow.

Why Your Business Needs Custom Web DesignServices

  • 01
Your Brand Doesn’t Fit A Template
Most people decide whether they trust your business within seconds of landing on your site.

A template might check the “we have a website” box, but it won’t communicate what makes you different.

With our web design, you control every detail, from your visual identity down to how your messaging hits at each stage of the buyer journey.
  • 02
A Site That Works As Hard As Your Sales Team
Looking good isn’t enough if visitors can’t figure out what to do next.

Our web design services focus on building layouts and navigation around the actions you want people to take.

Every page has a purpose and the UX is designed to move people through your funnel instead of letting them bounce.
  • 03
    SEO That’s Built In
How your site is built affects how Google ranks it. Page speed, site structure, content hierarchy, URL architecture, it all plays a role.

We don’t design first and think about SEO later.

Our web design company builds search performance into the foundation from day one so you’re not paying to fix it after launch.
  • 04
    Mobile-First Because Your Audience Is
More than half your traffic is probably coming from a phone.

We design for mobile first and scale up to desktop, not the other way around.

Your site works the way it should on every screen size and device.
  • 05
    Stand Out In Your Market
Your competitors are investing in their websites too.

If your site looks generic or feels outdated, people will notice and they’ll leave.

We build sites that reflect what your business brings to the table and what sets you apart from competitors.
  • 06
    Deep Industry Experience
Your business is going to change. You might add new products, expand to new markets and have new goals.

Web design gives you a foundation you can build on for years instead of something you’ll need to scrap and redo in 18 months.

When it’s time to add pages, features or entire sections, you’re expanding on something solid.

What truly sets Digital Silk apart is their unwavering commitment to client satisfaction. Throughout the process, they presented us with multiple options and designs, taking the time to explain the rationale behind each choice and its impact on SEO.

Custom Web Design FAQs

What makes custom web design different from using a template?

A template gives you a layout someone else designed for everybody. Custom design starts with your business, your audience and your goals, and the site is built around them. We don’t use pre-built or off-the-shelf themes – every design is built specifically for your brand and your users, from your visual identity down to how your messaging lands at each stage of the buyer journey.

What we do reuse is our own library of previously built, battle-tested modules, where they genuinely fit your project. That isn’t templating; it’s proven code, so the budget goes into the parts that make your site distinctive instead of rebuilding a contact form from scratch.

How much does a custom website design cost?

It depends on scope, and we’d rather give you an accurate number than a vague range. The main drivers are the number of unique page templates, how much custom functionality and integration the site needs, whether it includes ecommerce, and how much strategy and content work is involved.

What does your custom web design process look like?

Every project moves through seven stages, refined over hundreds of builds. We start with web strategy: your goals, your audience, your competition, and what your current site does well and where it falls short. Then comes planning and architecture, where we map the sitemap, navigation, user flows, conversion paths and URL structure.

Next is messaging and conversion, where keyword research and user intent shape the copy, value propositions and calls to action for your key pages. You see wireframes for every page before any visual design starts, and once the structure is agreed we build desktop and mobile designs. After that comes custom development, QA across every browser and device, and ongoing optimisation once real traffic starts coming in.

Which platforms do you build custom websites on?

We work across every major CMS and choose the platform based on what fits your business. WordPress is our preferred framework for most builds – it’s flexible, scales from a 5-page site to a very large one, and your team can manage it without needing a developer.

For ecommerce we use Shopify Plus, Adobe Commerce (Magento) or WooCommerce. We also build on Webflow, and for custom applications and headless builds our team works with React, Next.js, Laravel, Angular, TypeScript and Node. We pick the stack around your needs, not our preferences.

How do you make sure a custom website is fast, mobile-friendly and SEO-ready?

We build it in from day one rather than fixing it after launch. Site structure, content hierarchy, URL architecture and page speed are planned alongside the design, and our SEO team handles keyword research and search intent before the copy is written. We also design mobile-first and scale up to desktop, so the site works on every screen size.

On speed, slow sites are usually badly built, not beautifully designed. We keep the code lean, load above-the-fold elements first, serve images in modern compressed formats and run the site behind a CDN. Core Web Vitals – LCP, INP, CLS and TTFB – are tracked throughout the build and treated as a launch requirement. If an animation or embed is expensive in performance terms, we’ll show you the trade-off and let you decide.

Can you redesign my website without losing my search rankings?

Yes, and it’s planned from the start rather than patched afterwards. During planning we map your existing structure and URLs against the new architecture, so the pages that already earn traffic are carried over deliberately instead of lost in the rebuild.

Clearinghouse CDFI is a good example: its Domain Rating held steady through a full replatform while organic traffic grew 87%. We also baseline your rankings and traffic before launch, so you can see exactly how the new site performs against the old one.

Can you integrate the new website with our CRM, ERP or other business tools?

Yes. Custom development includes setting up your CMS and connecting the tools your business already uses, so the site works with your existing systems rather than around them. For Massimo Motor, we connected Shopify to NetSuite through Celigo so inventory, orders and customer data stay in sync in real time. For Clearinghouse CDFI, qualified inquiries land directly in Salesforce.

Tell us what you use for CRM, ERP, marketing automation and analytics during scoping, so the integrations are in the proposal and the timeline from the start.

What types of businesses do you build custom websites for?

We’ve built 500+ custom websites, mostly for B2B, enterprise and brand-led businesses, alongside B2C and ecommerce brands. The work spans industries including ecommerce, SaaS, healthcare, energy, education and foodservice.

The size and shape varies just as much. Some sites need a clear path for a single audience, others, like Clearinghouse CDFI, need separate journeys for borrowers and investors, each with its own messaging and conversion funnel. Our portfolio shows what that has looked like across different sectors.

What happens if my requirements change during the project?

We manage it with numbers, not arguments. Every project starts with a budget broken down into estimated hours per role and task, agreed with you before work begins. Your project manager reviews hours logged against hours allocated every week, so drift is spotted early rather than at the end.

If a request falls outside the agreed scope, we stop and tell you before doing the work. You’ll get the extra hours or cost in writing and can approve it, swap it for something already in scope, or park it for later. No unapproved work, and no surprise invoice at the end.

How do you test a custom website before it goes live?

Every project has a dedicated QA engineer, and testing runs in layers. We start with software-assisted checks, then each department does a manual review of its own work, the Head of Department signs off, and for development projects the CTO gives final approval before anything deploys.

Every team works from a detailed checklist refined over years of builds, covering formatting, security, design accuracy, content, SEO, accessibility, page speed and every contact form. You also get a user acceptance testing round to try the site yourself before we go live.

Who owns the design and code once the website is built?

You do. Once the project is paid in full, ownership of the custom code written specifically for you transfers to you, along with the final approved designs, brand assets and content deliverables. You also get the repositories, deployment credentials and production access.

There are two sensible exceptions: third-party frameworks, plugins and licensed components stay under their own licences (as with any agency), and our pre-existing internal modules remain ours, though you get a full licence to keep using them on your site. You’re never locked in, and you can take the site to another team at any point.

Will my team be able to manage the website after launch?

Yes. We plan the handover before launch, not after. You get a bespoke handover document written for your specific site, recorded one-to-one training sessions with the people who will actually manage it, and walkthroughs of the CMS, repositories and any relevant third-party accounts. We also set up your analytics so you can see how the site is performing from day one.

If your site is hosted with us, it comes with a warranty period after launch for any bugs. If you’d rather not manage it in-house, ongoing support is available around what you need, from technical maintenance and content updates to new features, conversion optimisation and digital marketing.

How do you measure the return on investment of a custom website?

We baseline before we build, then measure against it. Before launch we record where you are on the metrics that matter to your business – enquiries or sales, conversion rate, organic traffic and rankings, and engagement signals like time on site, bounce rate and returning visitors.

After launch we track the same metrics, so the change is measurable rather than a matter of opinion. For most clients the real question is ‘what is one extra lead per week worth to us?’ – we’ll work that number out with you upfront so the target is agreed before we start. Our case studies show what this has looked like for other clients.

How long does a custom website design project take?

It depends on the size of the project. A professionally designed five page website built on our proven framework can go live in a few weeks. A typical custom project runs 3 to 6 months, and a large enterprise build with heavy integrations can take 9 months or more.

Here’s the part most agencies won’t tell you: roughly 35-40% of any timeline is client-side – design approvals, content, stakeholder sign-off and user acceptance testing. Our production time is fast, so the real lever on your launch date is how quickly reviews and approvals come back. We give you a dated schedule upfront showing exactly when we need decisions from you.
